Harper Guides New Calendar

A charity calendar, which features Harper Adams amongst well known Telford landmarks, has raised £700.

The calendar was produced by the Telford and Wrekin branch of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, and was the brainchild of secretary and treasurer, Carol Drewery.

It features the guide dogs of local owners posing in the grounds of Harper Adams University College in Edgmond, the Maxell Gardens in Telford Town Park, Ironbridge, and the Thomas Telford statue at Telford Law Courts.

The photographs were taken during the autumn, and provided free of charge by the well known Newport photographer Dan Arden, who sadly passed away recently.

Carol, of Trench, said this year’s design has proved extremely popular, and all but a handful of the 400 printed have been snapped up, netting the charity a healthy Christmas windfall.

She added: “I would like to thank Harper Adams, Maxell, Lanyon Bowdler for all the support in producing our 2005 calendar, and also the designer, Mathew Kent, and photographer Dan Arden, who provided their services for free.

“I would also like to thank Harper Adams students, who donated £500 to Guide Dogs, and all of the guide owners for bringing their dogs to the photograph shoots despite some terrible weather!”
